Hurricane Katrina

WOW. I'm out in the Arizona dessert (Phoenix) watching Hurriane Katrina on television. My part of Florida took the brunt of Hurricane Ivan last year and Hurricane Dennis this year. I was at home during both of those storms listening to the howling wind and trees falling over.

New Orleans is so much lower that it's obvious before it happens that the flooding and wind damage is going to be MAJOR. I can only pray for anyone left in any structures directly in the storms path.

Hurricane Ivan left me without electricty, drinkable running water, and even mail deliveries for WEEKS. Hurricane Dennis only knocked out our utilities for a few days. Being without things you take for granted like electricity very quickly gets frustrating!

As for me personally, I'm scheduled to fly from Phoenix to Pensacola today. My flight goes through Atlanta. When I last talked to my wife on the phone, she told me that our local airport is forecast to be closed. So I may get to spend a lot of time in the airports for the next day or so. If I manage to get into Atlanta, I'll likely just rent a car and drive home though.

Hurricane Katrina is certainly a force to be recognized!
