Court Orders Gmail To Turn Over "Deleted" Email Records!
Here's an interesting story!
News.com reports that a Judge in San Francisco is requiring Google to hand over all the emails of a specific gmail user, even the deleted emails. Since Google stores deleted emails for an undisclosed amount of time, the number of emails that can be used against the plaintiffs, AmeriDebt and founder Andris Pukke, could be "tens of thousands." The case is about a credit counseling company that failed to use the customer's money to pay the creditors.

Definitely a caution. Courts can also get that information from your ISP or your web host(who may also have deleted messages in their records if they use snapshot style storage). Not to mention what may be happening on the recipient's side.
Folks definitely need to be educated about the fact that sending an email is just as much evidence as sending certified letter, so long as it can be authenticated...
