My Million Dollar 90 Days Update - Back-Peddling?

Back on September 29th, 2006 I threw out a really
outlandish declaration. I publicly stated that I
would earn $1,000,000 in 90 days, using Internet
marketing techniques. I first announced that on
"The Internet Marketing Warrior Forum" but also set
up a blog to post updates.

Even though this thread is entitled "backpeddling" I'm
still going for that goal, and I have little doubt that
I will reach it. After surfing around to dozens of
forums where this challenge was mentioned (usually
posts pointed out to me by friends who felt that I
should maybe defend myself), I felt I should make a
few clarifications.

Hopefully, that's ok. I'm not selling anything here,
and feel that this post will be helpful... and also
stem some of the speculation.

The first thing that I should mention is that on my
blog I'm not going to tell EVERYTHING that I do as
I do it. I am writing down everything that I do and
do share parts of it, but not the step-by-step
instructions. There are two reasons that I don't do
that:

1) I DO plan on creating at least one product from
my notes. It's likely to be a course. I say at
least one product, because I'll also probably put on
a live seminar where I go over the same material.
After all, I am an information product creator and
marketer.

2) As was discussed in a thread on another forum,
as soon as you reveal something that you are doing,
people steal your idea. If it's a big enough idea, it's
not really a problem. However, people do copy your
ideas... sometimes they copy your website word for word.

The really bold ones not only copy your websites, they
put up a page selling your product at a reduced price
... maybe on Ebay, and then they send their customers
to YOUR download page. That's an extreme example, but
it does happen. So, why shoot yourself in the foot
too early?

So, I am not telling everything that I do blow by blow
as it happens. That will be revealed later, and I'm
not totally certain what format. I am documenting
everything. Since I apparently gave a some people the
impression that this was what I was doing, this is
where I'm "backpeddling."

This raises the question, if I'm not telling you how
I'm doing it now, what's the point. My real point was
to share with you such an incredible goal that many
people would be inspired and reason that while $1
million in 90 days is unrealistic for them as a goal,
certainly $10,000 or even $100,000 is doable.

It is not realistic for most people, even most seasoned
marketers to set such a lofty goal. In-fact many of
the marketers that I know not only wouldn't dare shoot
for such a goal, they actually hope that I "fall flat
on my face." They state this in private calls that
happen to be attended by my "spies."

I am having the desired effect of motivating lots of
people, and that's all many of you, "who already know
the what and how," need! That's also the purpose of many
of my other threads on this forum.

Too many people know what to do and just simply need
to do it.

Too many people are afraid to just start... afraid of
making the wrong decision. Ask yourself, "If you
make the wrong decision, what's the worse that can
happen?"

Then ask yourself, "If you do nothing, what is certainly
going to happen."

With this project, I'm also proving that the things that
many of you already know how to do are the very things
that I'm doing.

You need to stop looking for easier, push-button, magic
bullets, and use the proven things that you already know
how to do!

These things include:

- Creating my own e-books (both for sale, and freebies)
- Creating my own membership sites
- Creating interview products
- Marketing products that I have private label rights to
after improving upon them and rebranding them
- Marketing products that I have master resale rights
- Generating income from AdSense and Pay Per Lead traffic
- Generating income from traffic driven to some sites
using Pay Per Click Traffic
- Setting up simple joint ventures

I won't pretend that I'm a totally average marketer...
I've spoken at 6 seminars in the past 2 months, created
numerous products this year, done dozens of media
interviews, written several physical books, and have
clients paying me up to $10,000 for consulting... often
just so that they can bounce ideas off me.

Five minutes ago, I was in the speakers' lounge in
Singapore, where the only people in the room were me,
Jay Abraham, his assistant, and 2 WIS staffers. Yes, I
actually get to say that I shared the stage with Jay
... after I speak this weekend.

So, admittedly I've managed to claw my way to a level
that not all of you have...

However, I am using techniques that everyone here can
use.

Take the idea of doing interview products. That idea
is as old as dirt! Complete unknowns have put together
such products and done well with them. Joe Kumar (if
I can use his name here) is an excellent example He
used that concept to do very well, very fast, although
he also made a fatal business mistake in the end.

ALL Of the products that I create, I have done "OK" with,
and some have done exceptional. I have already let you
in on the secret there. It's simply to create products
that people want and offer it to them.

I'm here at the World Internet Summit Singapore this
morning. Ewen Chia and JoHan Mok will demonstrate just
how easy it is to generate money to the audience. How?
By offering the ONE thing that practically every
webmaster in the world needs, and asks about on this
forum all the time... traffic generation.

There are certain topic where if you create products,
teaching credible information/techniques, they will
always sell. It's not difficult to spot them. Simply
sift through the forum threads and notice which ones
get the most views, and the most responses. Look at
the WSO's and see which ones get the most interest.

Go to certain article directories and look at which
topics get the most views. That's what I do at
IdeaMarketers.com That tells me what topics to
write on by looking at what articles my market is
actually reading! It's simply giving people what
they want.

Using AdSense or Pay Per Lead... I posted a
thread that showed how I do that (actually just the
AdSense part).

I'll share an idea, that I picked up after watching
out-takes from a seminar, that allows me to DOMINATE
some of my target niches. The idea is simply to compete
against yourself. Set up other websites, selling similar
products, using a formula that's working for you.
Register the domains by proxy, and sell your own products,
competing products, affiliate products... whatever you
choose, but once you have a workable formula, why not do
what Coke and Pepsi does. They simply crowd all of the
other soft drinks off the shelf. With all of the diet,
vanilla, sugar-free, caffine-free, low-carb, classic,
etc. varieties, there is little need to worry about
the competition because there is little shelf space
left in the supermarket for the competitors.

No I won't show you what niches I use a tactic like
this in, I will just say that you can register domains
by proxy, have EVERY listing on the front page
of the SERPS, and your competitors never need to know.

I do market affiliate products, and share "practically
all" of the tactics that I use here. What is not
obvious though is the SCALE that I employ some of
these techniques.

Moving on to those watching and commenting on what
I'm up to... on other forums...

- Those who commented that my blog looks like it
took me 5 minutes to put together, it actually took
about 3 minutes after I got the header grahic :-)
I do have blogs set up to be pretty. This one was
set up to just communicate without looking pretty.

- Those who say that I'm out to scam people, I'm
not really selling anything, although when I mention
products and services, I do sometimes use affiliate
links. I did say that I'm an affilate marketer. I
don't fully understand how it could viewed as
a scam.

I can understand how someone who can't imagine doing
what I said I was going to do would be skeptical.

That's good! You should all keep your hands on
your wallets... and believe less of what you hear,
read, or even see! I'm telling you upfront that I'm
tackling a big challenge to stretch your thinking
BUT that I don't think it is realistic for most who
read this to set the same goal.

- Those who say that I'm just seeking to create
buzz, they're absolutely RIGHT. If you have a
business and you're not promoting, then your business
is probably not growing. With many businesses, when
you stop promoting, the traffic and sales stop.

My friend Jack Humphrey did write about reaching
"critcal mass"... a point at which there are so
many traffic/business generating systems in place that
you CAN stop promoting for a while and the business
continues. Many of my sites have reached that
point.

Creating BUZZ... or free pubicity is what you should
be doing to. After all, that type of publicity is
often much more powerful than paid advertising. You
should use the same tactics.

Anyway the purpose in the project is to inspire
and get you to challenge yourself. It's to get you
to step outside of your comfort zone!

If I accomplish that, the project will have been
a success, regardless of how much I actually end up
earning. Some day, I'll be able to look down from
that big discussion forum in the sky and see that
this was very much a worthwhile... although crazy
challenge.

End of excuses!

By the way, I do consider myself as on-track to
reaching that goal.
