When I DECIDED To Become “A Guru”

Many newer "followers of my rambling" don't really know me.
Many probably believe that I've been a big success right from
the very start.

Please allow me 3 minutes to share a secret.

I honestly believe that hearing my story and seeing how I
literally went from welfare to where I'm now in "the inner
circle" of the rich and famous is very instructive.

Back in December 2002, I was invited to speak at a seminar
for the first time. Strangely, that was the first seminar
that I ever attended. Prior to that, I was quietly off
working by myself on my online business.

I had been successful at creating a niche product... a
cookbook no less, and that was what caused the Internet
marketing niche to notice me.

At that fateful seminar, I first met and got to really know
Jonathan Mizel, Bob Silber, Armand Morin, Fred Gleeck, Frank
Garon, Lori Prokop, Ramon Williamson, Carl Galletti, John
Reese, Ryan Deiss, Joel Holtzman, and Marty Foley. I still
consider most of these people close friends today.

I've since done joint ventures with most of those speakers
and attendees from the seminar mentioned above.

That December 2002, as I listened to the other speaker on
stage, I have to admit that I was somewhat in AWE. They all
seemed to have it so “together.”

As I listened to their presentations, I decided then and there
that I was going to be "a top internet marketer." I decided
then and there that I was going to be one of those marketers
who understood and used online marketing so effectively that
people would refer to me in hushed tones as "a guru."

A late-night, impromptu mastermind session with John Reese,
and Ramon Williamson (at that seminar) further solidified my
thinking and determination.

So, that's when I DECIDED to become a guru.

At that seminar, I decided to take Ramon Williamson up on an
offer for some additional coaching. The coaching that he gave
me steered me through writing my second physical book...
taking three months from concept to printed book in hand.

My first book was my cookbook, which still sells well today.

My second book was an inspirational biography where I told
HOW I just decided to become a success and then...

MADE IT HAPPEN!

In that bio, I share how:

- 4 months after attending my first seminar, I hosted my
own. It wasn't huge, but it was a success, and many who
attended that seminar are big successes today.

- 5 months after attending that first seminar, I started my
own private label shoppingcart, that's still going strong
today.

- I dumped the poverty mentality and realized that there is
enough wealth to go around, and figured out how to get my
share.

- I realized that money is not evil, although the misused
drive to get it can lead to evil. Used properly, money
allows you to do tremendous "good."

- I learned that nothing in life is without risk... and I
learned how to take calculated risks that paid off handsomely
more often than not.

- Every experience in our lives can serve as a springboard and
source of strength , allowing us to boldly move forward

I share just that tiny bit of my background, because my
becoming a top internet marketer... someone that some...with
mixed emotions... often refer to as "a guru" was NOTHING
more than making a decision.

I simply decided that I would do those things necessary to
become a success.

I learned long ago that "Successful People Do Things That
Unsuccessful People Know That They Should Do - But Won't."

I also learned long ago that successful people often DON'T
want to do the things necessary for success... things like
taking a few risk, work harder but smarter, and showing
the discipline to make a decision and then see it through
to completion. However, they still do them!

Why am I on this tirade anyway?

My hope is that it will strike a chord with you, and that it
will show you that it really is little more than making a
decision.
